Over 50 years of engineering excellence

GB Components opened in the early 1970s. The proprietor Gilbert Leslie Ball saw a gap in the high precision, high volume market for small turned parts. The name GB Components came from Leslie’s name Gilbert Ball.

He purchased Swiss made Peterman Cam Sliding Head machines, soon having a workshop filled with them making small parts for a huge range of applications from electronic instruments to fishing equipment

About 30 years ago, as volume work was beginning to move to China the Cam autos were replaced with Tornos CNC versions and the decision was made to move to bigger diameter work, not forsaking however small diameter high precision work.

So together with the Sliders the company now has a range of fixed head CNC lathes, up to 10” capacity and CNC milling to 750mm.

The company has continued to increase its portfolio recently with welding capacity ,external grinding and 4th axis on the milling machines.

Turning is up to 75mm bar feed capacity and has a range of lathes that have power driven tooling.

Customers range from automotive to civil engineering test equipment

The Company runs Turbo CAD and is well accomplished in reverse engineering .
